Jose Maria Lacunsa ( Spanish: José María de Lacunza Blengio ; August 16, 1809 , Mexico City - 1869 , Havana , Cuba ) - Mexican politician and statesman, diplomat and writer. Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Mexican Empire (1867).

Biography
It is considered one of the pillars of Mexican literature. In 1836, he was one of the founders of the Letran Academy ( es: Academia de Letrán ), the famous Mexican literary association of the 19th century.
He was a member of the delegation sent by the Mexican government to Queretaro in 1848 to sign the Guadalupe Hidalgo Treaty with the United States , according to which Mexico recognized the annexation of the territories of modern Texas , California , Utah , Nevada , most of New Mexico and Arizona , small areas of modern the states of Colorado and Wyoming (transferred 1.36 million km² of territory to the United States).
Member of the Liberal Party of Mexico. From May 10, 1849 to January 15, 1851 he occupied the chair of the Minister of the Interior and Foreign Affairs in the office of Jose Joaquin de Herrera .
Headed the Senate of Mexico. During the presidency, Benito Juarez was Minister of Finance and Government Loans.
From April 3 to May 15, 1867, he served as Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Mexican Empire ( Prime Minister ) under the Emperor of Mexico, Maximilian I of Habsburg . After the fall of the empire and the restoration of the republic, he was exiled and settled in Cuba in Havana, where he died in 1869.
