Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2009
Matos represented Cabo Rojo at the Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2009 pageant contest where she was crowned by previous winner Ingrid Rivera along with Miss USA 2008 Crystal Stuart and Miss Dominican Republic Marianne Cruz. She also received the "Very Beautiful Face." [2]

Competition
Matos entered the podium in a boxing suit at the national costume contest; her suit consisted of a robe with a hood, gloves and a championship belt with the coat of arms of Puerto Rico. [3] . Many people know boxing traditions on the island where many of the world champions were born.
Final show
Maos represented Puerto Rico at the Miss Universe 2009 contest in Nassau, Bahamas. She was named the first semi-finalist. She entered the Top 10 and became one of the Top 5 finalists, along with Ada de la Cruz from the Dominican Republic, Rachel Finch from Australia, Stefanie Fernandez from Venezuela and Marigona Dragushi from Kosovo. She finished the 4th vice miss. Stefania Fernandez from Venezuela won. [4]

After Myra completed the contest, comedians suggested challenging the results, assuring that Myra was the real Miss Universe. In several interviews, she did not agree to dispute the crown of Stephanie Fernandez [5] .
After the contest
Myra returned to the fashion world by launching her "Secret" campaign. [6]
In 2013, Matos appeared in the comedy film "200 Cartas", the film narrated about a comic book by an artist who came to Puerto Rico to find a woman whom he met in a bar in New York. Matos had the role of Maria Sanchez, whose beloved Raul was played by the actor and composer Lina-Manuel Miranda. Mexican actor Jaime Camille , Puerto Rican actor and comedian Luis Raul, and Miss Universe 1993 Dianara Torrez also appeared in the film. [7] [8]
