The village is located on the east bank of the Volgograd reservoir [2] 50 km east of the district center of the village Staraya Poltavka .
History
According to the List of populated areas of the Samara province in 1910, Kolyshkino belonged to the Ilovatsky volost of the Novouzensk district of the Samara province. The population of the village consisted of former state peasants , mainly Little Russians , Orthodox , a total of 1637 men and 1587 women. In the village there were a church, parish and parish schools, 2 steam and 3 windmills, a steam oil mill [3] .
Since 1922 as part of the Zelman canton of the Volga German Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . The village was the administrative center of the Kolyshkinsky village council. According to the 1926 census, there were 387 households in the village, of which 10 were German [4] .
On August 28, 1941, a Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Armed Forces on the resettlement of Germans living in the Volga region was issued. The German population of the Volga German Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was deported . The village as a part of the Ilovatsky district moved to the Stalingrad region (since 1961 - the Volgograd region). In 1963, in connection with the abolition of the Ilovatsky District, it was transferred to the Nikolaev District [5] , in 1964 it was included in the Staropoltavsky District [6] .
