Formation history
The 4th Cavalry Corps was formed as the 4th Territorial Cavalry Corps in 1928 in Rostov-on-Don in the North Caucasus Military District (SKVO) [1] .
The 5th Stavropol Cavalry Division was stationed in the North Caucasus Military District and since 1928 was part of the 4th Cavalry Corps. The corps also included the 11th North Caucasian Territorial and the 12th Territorial Cavalry Divisions [1] .
In 1930, the 5th Cavalry Division participated in the suppression of the counter-revolutionary uprising in Chechnya.
In 1932, the 5th Cavalry Division was redeployed to the Ukrainian Military District (hereinafter UkrVO) and became part of the 2nd Cavalry Corps (2nd KK) .
Since 1936, the 4th Cavalry Corps is the 4th Cossack Corps named after Comrade Budyonny [1] .
