Methodical fire - the order of firing from one or more artillery pieces, in which, after a command, each subsequent shot occurs at the same time interval [1] [2] .
In the case of firing at visible targets, methodical fire is used to determine refinement amendments to each fire weapon [2] . It is also used during firing on unobservable targets, for example, on the destruction of fortifications , during fire raids of a certain duration to maintain the target in a depressed state (see suppression fire ), when illuminating the area in the dark [1] [2] . In this case, the time interval between successive shots (the rate of methodical fire ) is estimated by dividing the time during which it is necessary to fire at the established rate of ammunition consumption [2] . In the case of using methodical fire to defeat visible targets, the rate of methodical fire is set depending on the capabilities of artillery surveillance and notch [2] .
