Biography

Born in the family of retired Lieutenant-Commander Zakhar Alekseevich Golovachev. In the rank of midshipman, he served in the Baltic Fleet, on the sailing schooner " Meteor " under the command of Vice Admiral Karl Karlovich Sidensner .

He commanded the squadron and was the captain of the yacht " Standart ", on which the crown prince Nikolai Alexandrovich on September 20, 1864, arrived in Copenhagen for engagement with the Danish princess Dagmara . May 25, 1865 appointed aide-de-camp. January 1, 1866 produced in the captains of the 1st rank.

In 1876, as part of amateur concerts in his house, he staged the opera Son of Mandarin (composer C. A. Cui ) in which Zai-Sang played the young midshipman N. V. Unkovsky (1856-1904) on the dramatic baritone whom drew the attention of the composer's wife Matilda Rafailovna Cui (nee Bamberg), a student of A. S. Dargomyzhsky .

In the Russian-Turkish war (1877–1878), he was part of the Guards crew under the command of Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich , head of the ferries on the Danube. December 4, 1877 promoted to the rank of rear admiral . For distinction in arranging crossings over the Danube, he was awarded on November 19, 1878 with the Order of St. Stanislav of the I degree with swords.

He was a member of the board of the Voluntary Fleet Society. On behalf of the Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna , he made a bookmark of the cathedral church of the Ilyinsky Skete on Athos, built and consecrated in honor of Elijah the Prophet in 1881.

From August 3, 1881 he commanded the Guards crew [1] . In 1883 he was awarded the Order of St. Anne I degree. On January 1, 1886, he was promoted to vice-admiral [2] with the appointment of a member of the main naval court.

He died on November 4, 1886 in St. Petersburg and was buried in the Smolensk Orthodox cemetery [3] near the western facade of the Xenia Blessed Chapel .
