Yury Mikhailovich Bakarinov (born May 8, 1938 , Moscow ) is a Soviet hammer thrower and athletics coach . Participant in the 1964 Summer Olympics. Bronze medalist of the European Championship in 1962. 1964 USSR Champion. Honored coach of Russia . Doctor of Education (1996) [1] .

Biography
Yury Mikhailovich Bakarinov was born on May 8, 1938 in Moscow. In the 1960s, he was one of the strongest hammer throwers in the USSR, the champion and champion of the country (1964). Participated in the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, where he finished fifth.
After the end of his sports career Bakarinov took up coaching work. Yuri Mikhailovich was the coach of the national team for hammer throwing [2] [3] [4] [5] , and then until 2007 - the senior coach for all types of throwing [6] .
He did a lot of research work, developed methodological materials for the preparation of high-level athletes. Currently, Yuri Mikhailovich works in the integrated research team on throwing in the Russian team [7] .
His most famous pupils are:
- Igor Astapkovich - the prize-winner of Olympic games of 1992 and 2000, the champion of Europe of 1990, the prize-winner of the world championships [8] .
- Alexey Zagorny - participant in the 2000 Olympic Games, bronze medalist of the 2009 World Championship, champion of Russia in 2000 [9] [10] .
