Production and Release
The film was shot in 1998 in the state of California , in the cities of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles .
The film was first shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 1998, a theatrical release took place in 1999. [1] Part of the scenes was re-shot on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills , in particular, a new ending was filmed. She was required due to the fact that in the original version of the script, the heroine Ellen DeGeneres should have died in the final, but at the preliminary screening the audience reacted negatively to this.
