Deformers is a third-party action- packed multiplayer game ^[1] . Players control fleshy spherical creatures called "deformers" that can roll, jump, shoot, accelerate and capture opponents ^{[2] [3] [4]} . There are three modes in the game ^[2] . In deathmatch and team deathmatch modes, the goal is to destroy the enemy either by reducing his health to zero or knocking him out of the arena ^[3] . Form-ball is a mode that is analogous to football ^[3] . In total, each battle is divided into three rounds of two minutes each ^[2] .

Before the battle, the player can choose one of five classes: Ranger, Guardian, Speedster, Striker and Marksman, each of which has its own advantage in battle ^[2] . In the game, you can also buy characters that differ only in appearance ^[5] . During the battle, various bonuses may appear that temporarily give some kind of ability to the “deformer” ^[5] , or there may be a “disaster” during which, for example, gravity may turn off or a huge monster will appear that will destroy everything in its path ^[2] .

Deformers supports the game 2, 3 and 4 people on a split screen, as well as a multiplayer mode with up to eight players ^[4] .

Deformers was developed by Ready at Dawn ^[4] . The project began as a technological demonstration ^[4] . The design duo in the studio began working on the Deformers prototype in August 2014, while most of the employees were busy The Order: 1886 ^[4] . Deformers is the studio’s second original game, and it was expected that it would use the same physical system as The Order ^[4] . It was also expected that Deformers will have a very flexible multiplayer mode: it will be possible to play online, locally and create teams of any size with the sum of players of both teams together up to eight people ^[4] .

It was originally planned to release Deformers on February 14, 2017 ^[6] , but the release was postponed so that the development team could take into account all the reviews ^[7] . From April 1 to April 4, a beta version of the game was available on Windows in the Steam digital distribution system ^[8] . Deformers became the second game published by the GameStop GameTrust ^[7] publishing program and was released March 24 on XOne, April 11 on Windows and April 21 on PlayStation 4 ^[9] .

Deformers received moderate reviews from critics. The average score for the PS4 version of the game is 60 out of 100 based on 8 reviews of Metacritic ^[11] and 51% for GameRankings based on 4 reviews ^[12] , and the average score for the Xone version on Metacritic is 49 out of 100 based on 7 reviews ^{[10] ]} .

StopGame.ru Alexey Likhachev praised the graphics and gameplay in the PS4 version, but scolded a small number of modes, lack of training, overpriced and almost complete absence of players online, giving the game a “prod” score and saying at the end “in the case of Deformers everything seems to be not so gloomy - it is actually good and largely original, but nobody wants to buy it, and therefore it is strange to advise it ” ^[2] . Zuriel Vazquez from Game Informer praised the PS4 version of the gameplay, which he said: “can be enjoyed if you do not encounter numerous technical problems of the game,” and the colorful graphics, but criticized the selection of players when newcomers play in the same arena experienced players, which makes the game monotonous and boring. In the end, Vazquez said: “ Deformers have flaws, but none of them is a sufficient reason to avoid the game” and gave her 7 points out of 10 ^[5] .

The Generación Xbox reviewer put the XOne version 58 points out of 100, noting the high price, poor player selection and lack of content, but praising the graphics and fun gameplay ^[13] .
