Edward Ernestovich Miram (1811–1899) is a doctor of medicine and surgery, an ordinary professor and dean of the medical faculty of the Kiev Imperial University of St. Vladimir , state councilor .

Biography
The son of a merchant of the 2nd guild. He was educated at the Mitavskaya gymnasium . In 1829 he entered the St. Petersburg Medical-Surgical Academy , from there he transferred to the Medical Faculty of the University of Dorpat ; in 1833 he entered the position of an assistant prosector in comparative anatomy at the Vilna Medical-Surgical Academy . After receiving the degree of doctor, he began to teach here comparative anatomy, then zoology, and after closing the Vilna Medical-Surgical Academy he was sent abroad. He defended his thesis for the degree of doctor of medicine in 1842: "De ossibus nasi" and was appointed professor of physiology at the Kiev Imperial University of St. Vladimir . He was also a practical doctor. During the cholera epidemic, he managed two hospitals in Kiev. After serving the 25th anniversary, he retired (1862). From January 1854 to December 1861 he was dean of the medical faculty of Kiev University .
Miram published several works on worms: “Bemerkungen über Ascaris megalocephala” (“Dorpater Jahrbücher”, 1834), “Bem. über die Anatomie d. Naturgeschichte ", 1838)," Ueber einige neue noch nicht beschriebene Eingeweidewürmer "(" Bull. De la Soc. Des Naturalistes de Moscou ", 1840); described some cases of deformity; further, “Beobachtungen über d. schädliche Einwirkung thierischer Stoffe auf d. menschlichen Körper "(Wiegmann's" Archiv ", 1838)," Ueber den eigenthümlichen Bau d. Gehörorgans einiger Säugethiere "(" Bull. De la Soc. Des Naturalistes de Moscou ", 1840) and others.
