Biography
Greaves was fond of punk rock as a teenager, in the 90s he was a drummer in the sludge band Iron Monkey , and in the mid-2000s - in the Electric Wizard [1] . In 2004, he, along with Mogwai bass player Dominic Aitschison, created his own band, called Crippled Black Phoenix. In 2006, the first CBP A Love of Shared Disasters album was released. The Pitchfork reviewer, singling out individual compositions, in particular “The Northern Cobbler” on Tennyson’s poems, on the whole described the album as overly eclectic and not forming a single whole [2] . A distinctive feature of the team were concert performances with more than a dozen musicians on stage [3] .
In 2013, the band released their first live album, Live Poznań [3] .
In 2014-2015, the name of the group became the subject of a dispute between Greaves and guitarist Karl Dema. Greaves retained his name and once again changed the composition of the group (one of the new musicians was Hawkwind bass player Niall Hawn) [4] .
In 2015, Crippled Black Phoenix signed a contract with the French label Season of Mist , specializing in the metal scene [5] . In 2016, the next studio album Bronze was released on Season of Mist.
