“Gylym” ( Kazakh: “Gylym” ; until 1992 - “Science”) - a Kazakhstan republican publishing house . It was founded in 1946 in Alma-Ata by decision of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR . The head of the editorial and publishing board was K. Satpayev . The first director is B. Ya. Nienburg . November 17, 1948 re-registered as an independent publication of the Academy of Sciences. Since 1962, subordinated to the State Committee for Publishing, Printing and Book Trade; since 2001 - the Ministry of Education and Science . It has its own printing base and printing house. In 1946–2000, more than 13 thousand books and magazines were published with a total circulation of 31 million copies in Kazakh, Russian, Uigur, and other languages. The works of Abay Kunanbaev , Chokan Valikhanov , Kanysh Satpayev and other prominent figures of science and culture of Kazakhstan, The Explanatory Dictionary of the Kazakh Language in 10 volumes, The History of the Kazakh SSR in 5 volumes and others were published.
