The Institute for Research and Development of Beekeeping ( Institutul de Cercetare-Dezvoltare pentru Apicultură , ICDA) is a scientific institution for beekeeping in Romania , a lot of work is also being done on apitherapy . Located in Bucharest . It was founded in 1974 . 105 employees (2014), headed by the Director General (since 2010), Doctor of Biochemistry Cristina Mateescu , Scientific Director - Adrian Siceanu.
It includes six divisions: bee diseases, apitherapy, honey production, chemistry and technology of beekeeping products, machinery and equipment, genetics and improvement of bees. Since 1977, the Institute has an apitherapy center [1] .
The library has about 12 thousand books and publications, some of which are more than a hundred years old [2] .
The story . It was created under the name Institutul de Cercetare și Producție pentru Apicultură as the central institute-research institute for beekeeping - on the initiative of Vyacheslav Harnazh , then president of the Romanian Association of Beekeepers and the World Society of Beekeepers Apimondia . Since 1997, it became the property of the Romanian Association of Beekeepers [3] .
