Biography

From the mid-1920s to the first half of the 1930s, he was one of the leading chess players in Romania. In 1929, in the Romanian Chess Championship, he took the third place (defeated Alexandra Tyroler ) [1] . Participant in many international chess tournaments. In 1927 he took the fourth place in the side tournament of the traditional New Year's chess festival in Hastings (won by George Koltanovsky ). A regular participant in chess tournaments in Bucharest, which he won in 1929.

Represented the national team of Romania at the largest team chess tournaments:

  • participated in chess competitions three times (1928–1931);
  • participated in the unofficial chess competition in 1924 [2] .

He was one of the fifteen delegates who signed the act of founding the International Chess Federation (FIDE) on July 20, 1924 in Paris [3] .

He died in November 1988.
