Delafloxacin

Delafloxacin is an antibiotic from the group of fluoroquinolones for the treatment of acute bacterial infections of the skin and skin structures. Approved for use: USA (2017) [1] [2] .

Mechanism of Action

Inhibits DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV [3] .

Indications

Treatment of acute bacterial infections of the skin and skin structures in adults caused by gram-positive microorganisms [4] :

  • Gram-positive bacteria : Staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus ), Staphylococcus haemolyticus , Staphylococcus lugdunensis , Streptococcus agalactiae , Streptococcus anginosus ( Streptococcus anginosus , Streptocococcus streptococcus , Streptococcus Streptococcus Streptococcus Streptococcus , Streptococcus streptococcus , Streptococcus streptococcus , Streptococcus anthococcus , Streptococcus anthococcus
  • Gram-negative bacteria : Escherichia coli , Enterobacter cloacae , Klebsiella pneumoniae , Pseudomonas aeruginosa .

Side Effects

  • The most common: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache.
  • More rare and serious: taking delafloxacin can be associated with the development of serious side effects, such as tendonitis and tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy and disorders of the central nervous system [5] .

Contraindications

  • hypersensitivity to the drug.
