Description
The “Terminator Terminator,” as John Connor called it, is the latest model that combines the traditional T-800 design (a rigid metal skeleton) and more recent developments: instead of a biological shell, a “molten metal” that changes shape, from which the T model’s robot is made -1000 (mimicking polysplav). Perhaps this model is not just a constructive compromise between the T-800 and T-1000, but another development of the model line of robots from an alternative future that arose after the destruction of materials and technical developments of CyberDine Systems in the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day . .
In the film, Terminatrix looks like a woman, can change its appearance within certain limits (due to the rigid skeleton - only humanoid forms). Compared to the T-1000, it is more vulnerable, but it is not subject to ballistic shock, that is, it does not fail for a moment when bullets hit. Equipped with built-in weapons (plasma emitter, flamethrower , etc.), a set of tools ( drill , circular saw ). Its arsenal also includes nano-technological transjectors, with the help of which it is able to reprogram and remotely control a large number of other mechanisms and equipment (even T-850 was reprogrammed), it is able to determine the chemical composition of substances and conduct DNA analysis using sensors in the oral cavity and etc. The plasma gun has interchangeable units so that it can be “charged”.
When the plasma weapon was damaged, TX chose a flamethrower as an alternative. Parts of the skeleton are not tightly connected - when the legs were crushed by a fallen helicopter, the robot separated the lower part of the skeleton. When the helicopter crashed, some of the nanorobots were also damaged, and the remaining ones were not enough to recreate the human appearance. Then the T-850 blew up its fuel cell, and the explosion destroyed both robots.
Only one sample of this model appeared in the film. In other films, this model does not appear.
Filming
- With the help of computer graphics, all frames were shot where the metal skeleton is exposed.
- To give the heroine a more futuristic and sinister appearance, the black metal skeleton was made chrome plated.
- The moments of turning a hand into a weapon have always been reproduced using computer graphics after practicing on three-dimensional models. In the future, the fate of the right hand of Terminatrix was decided differently. In a number of plans, weapons were attached to the computer. For other shots, Kristanne Loken attached a fake hand with another “killer” nozzle. The actress at the same time put on special clothes that held her real hand behind her back. Sometimes nozzles were fastened to Kristanna’s hand, but these frames had to be cleaned on a computer, since the human hand is wider than the mechanisms built into it.
- For the episode in which the TX reaches out through the back of the front seat and the driver’s body and takes the wheel, about eight consecutive fragments were shot with Mark Familietti, who was pushing his hand through a hole in the blue screen. Gradually, more and more artificial blood was poured onto the arm. The actor, who played the police driver, was shot separately, and during computer editing the images were combined, and a little more blood was added to the driver’s chest. ILM employees admit that removing these eight fragments was easier than drawing a digital hand, and it also cost less.
- It took half a year to work on the episode where TX "sticks" to the magnetic field. Programmers calculated the density, weight, shape and mass of the spreading metal, and also determined the trajectory of its movement under such conditions. After that, a digital simulation of liquid metal filled the silhouette of the actress built on reference points.
