The length of the brownish body is less than 2 mm (from 1.9 to 2.0 mm), the length of the head is from 0.52 to 0.56 mm. Antennae 6-segmented. Scape of mustache very short, dorso-ventrally oblate. The species was first described in 1954 by the Brazilian entomologist Thomas Borgmeier ( Thomas Borgmeier , 1892-1975) under the original name Glamyromyrmex appretiatus Borgmeier, 1954 [3] , and its valid status was confirmed by the British myrmecologist Barry Bolton [4] . The species is included in the species group Strumigenys appretiata along with several American species ( Strumigenys deinomastax , S. glenognatha , S. hadrodens , S. halosis , S. raptans , S. raptans , S. siagodens , S. teratrix , S. wheeleriana , S . xenochelyna ) [4] .
