Africa : Ivory Coast , Ghana .

Description

The length of the yellowish body is about 1 mm (from 138 to 1.4 mm), the length of the head is from 0.39 to 0.47 mm. Dorsal surface of mandibles with two large flattened setae. Orbicular hairs on the head behind the clypeus are developed. Antennae 6-segmented. Antenna scapus very short, dorso-ventrally flattened and wide. The mandibles are narrow elongated. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed, pupae are naked (without cocoon). Predatory species, preys on small species of soil arthropods . The species was first described in 1983 by the British worldmecologist Barry Bolton under the original name Epitritus tiglath Bolton, 1983 based on materials from Africa [1] . The species is included in the Strumigenys laticeps-complex from the species group Strumigenys argiola together with several African and Palearctic species ( Strumigenys laticeps , Strumigenys marchosias , Strumigenys mormo , Strumigenys anorbicula , Strumigenys roomi ) [1] .
