Description

The length of the yellowish body is about 2 mm, the length of the head is up to 0.52 mm. They have a long, spiky apicodorsal tooth of the mandibles. Orbicular hairs on the head are developed. Antennae 6-segmented. Antenna scapus very short, dorso-ventrally flattened and wide. Mandibles narrow elongated. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiole and the postpetiole (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed, the pupae are bare (without cocoon). Predatory species, preys on small species of soil arthropods . The species was first described in 2000 by the British worldmecologist Barry Bolton under the original name Pyramica mormo Bolton, 2000 based on materials from Africa [1] . The species is included in the Strumigenys laticeps-complex from the species group Strumigenys argiola along with several African and Palearctic species ( Strumigenys laticeps , Strumigenys marchosias , Strumigenys anorbicula , Strumigenys roomi , Strumigenys tiglath ) [1] .
