Patricia MacLachlan ( born Patricia MacLachlan ; born 1938) is an American children's writer. Chevalier of the National Humanitarian Medal (2002).

Biography
Born March 3, 1938 in Cheyenne (Wyoming).
She graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1962. She worked as an English teacher. Patricia's first work was published in 1979. Best known for filming a series of books about Jacob Whitting and his beloved woman, Sarah - “ Sarah, a tall and simple woman ”
Member of the National Alliance of Children's Literature. [one]
In 1986, she was awarded the John Newbury Medal for outstanding contributions to American literature for children.
