Kalya ( Hebrew קַלְיָה ) is an Israeli settlement and kibbutz on the West Bank , located on the Dead Sea . Municipally refers to the regional council Megillot Yam ha Melach . The population is about 300 people.

History
The settlement was founded in 1929. At first, there lived workers of a chemical plant opened on the Dead Sea. In 1948, the Jordanians destroyed it, but the Israelis then rebuilt in 1968 as a military and a few years later again as a civilian settlement.
Economics
Agriculture (dairy products, cherry tomatoes, watermelons ) and tourism. Tourists are attracted by the beach on the Dead Sea and the opportunity to stay in a kibbutz to relax on the way to Ein Gedi .

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Israel , the population at the beginning of 2018 was 399 people [2] .
