Dan + Shay is an American country duet, named after its members, vocalists and songwriters Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney.

Dan Smyers was born on August 16, 1987, and grew up in Wexford, PA , where he studied at North Allegheny Senior High School ^[1] . Then he entered Carnegie Mellon University , where he studied finance and played football ^[2] . James Shay Mooney was born on December 27, 1991 , grew up in Natural Dam ( Arkansas ) and studied at Union Christian Academy ( Fort Smith , Arkansas), and then at Valley Forge Christian College ^[3] . The duet members first met in Nashville, Tennessee on December 7, 2012 and began to write their songs together a day later ^[4] .

Two albums ( Where It All Began and Dan + Shay ) were in the first place of the Top Country Albums hit parade, and four singles (“ Nothin 'Like You ”, “ From the Ground Up ”, “ How Not To ”, “ Tequila ” ») Led the Country Chart Country Chart and received gold or platinum certification.
