Biography
Boris Yakovlevich Novozhilov was born on April 24, 1934. He graduated from the State Institute of Physical Culture. P.F. Lesgaft in Leningrad. By distribution, he was sent to work in Sverdlovsk. Since 1966 he worked as a track and field coach at the Department of Physical Education of the Ural Polytechnic Institute . In 1971, he joined the Kalininets sports club.
According to the results of the performance of the athletes he trained at the 1980 Olympics, Boris Yakovlevich was awarded the honorary title of Honored Trainer of the USSR .
After the start of perestroika, Boris Yakovlevich returned to the Ural Polytechnic Institute. In 1997, Novozhilov headed the track and field team of the IC “Mayak” in Krasnoturinsk.
Tragically died in a car accident on December 30, 1998, at the entrance to the city of Krasnoturinsk. He was buried in the Northern cemetery of Yekaterinburg .
It is listed in the Memory Book of the Ministry of Sports of the Sverdlovsk Region under No. 124 [1] . The B. Y. Novozhilov Memorial is annually held - athletics competitions in the arena of the Ural Federal University , which open the winter athletics season in the Sverdlovsk Region [2] [3] .

- Olga Mineeva - Olympic champion in 1980 and European champion in 1982 [4] ,
- Valentina Ilinykh (Zhukova) - two-time Universiade medalist (1979, 1981) and a silver medalist at the European Indoor Championship [2] ,
- Boris Kuznetsov - participant of the 1976 Olympic Games, bronze medalist of the European Indoor Championship in 1975 [5] ,
- Gennady Lvov - USSR champion in 1977,
- Andrei Tikhonov is a participant in the 1992 Olympic Games, a 1992 CIS champion, a three-time Russian champion (1993, 1994) [6] , and other athletes [7] .
