The script of the film was the thesis of a student of the Higher Courses of Scriptwriters and Directors , a novice writer Oleg Zhdan, whom he sent to Mosfilm [1] .
For the first time in the film [2], “Song about the native land” was performed (performed by Irina Otieva , music: Evgeny Krylatov, lyrics: Leonid Derbenev), which later became part of Valentina Tolkunova’s repertoire and titled “On this huge planet” (“ Where were you born?), Which has become very popular. Also in the film are songs “Missing Spring” (E. Krylatov - M. Plyatskovsky) performed by Igor Ivanov and “It's time to gold” (E. Krylatov - M. Plyatskovsky) performed by Tatyana Ruzavina and Sergey Tayushev.

Story
The leader of the Komsomol-youth brigade of builders of BAM , having achieved labor success and earned his authority and fame, comes on vacation to his native small town, from which he once joined the army. Met as a leading hero and a local celebrity, he, however, understands that he is a stranger here: the bride did not wait to marry his best friend, the relatives reproach him with an “easy life for a loan” and a trip “to the ready.” Honest, smart, unmarried, but useless to anyone, he does not find a place for himself here. Realizing that here he is completely alien, without waiting for the end of the vacation, he leaves again for BAM.

Criticism
The exact formulation of the problem is the dignity of the film. But still, I must admit that he lacks a great deal of artistic breathing; in it, nevertheless, some sketchiness and timidity in realizing the topic are palpable. It seems that the director, screenwriter, cameraman, as it were, constantly argue with each other, and then one or the other wins in this dispute. Such non-unity is always offensive. But it is all the more offensive, the more real and serious the theme appears, which this film raises.
