15th Macedonian Corps (NOAJ)

The 15th Macedonian Corps of the Noahu ( Serbohorse. Trinäesti Srpski Zagrebachki Corps of the NOVЈ / Trinaesti srpski korpus NOVJ , the Maked. Petnaesetti of the Macedonian Corps ) - the military unit of Noahu , formed in mid-October 1944 and participated in the Yugoslavia People’s Liberation War . The corps was involved in the liberation of Macedonia from the German, Bulgarian and Albanian occupation forces.

History

Originally it was called the 2nd building of the NOAU , this name was worn until November 10, 1944 [1] . At the time of formation it included the 41st and 49th Macedonian divisions [1] . The first commander was Alex Demnievsky, then he was replaced by Tikhomir Miloshevsky. The political commissioner of the corps is Naum Naumovsky. He took part in battles against Army Group “E” , which retreated from Greece through the valley of Vardar . He participated in the liberation of Povardarya, Pelagonia , Prespa and Ohrid , and later of Kichev and Gostivar [1] .

In December 1944, the corps was awarded the title of "shock", its membership included the 42nd and 48th Macedonian divisions. Since January 1945, he was on the Sremsky front, consisted of 22 thousand people. Obey the 1st Army [1] . During his participation in the battles on the Sremsky front, he lost 9 thousand people killed, 2800 wounded, 150 missing and 20 prisoners [2] .

Disbanded on April 11, 1945, its units were transferred under the command of the headquarters of the 1st Yugoslav Army [1] . Until the end of the war, units of the former 15th Corps suffered heavy losses: on April 15, 1945, 210 people died in Budrovac , more than a thousand partisans were killed in Vrpol [1] . The corps had only ordinary infantry weapons on its weapons [3] .
