The Mentalist (television series, 2018)

The charismatic 42-year-old Daniil Romanov ( Ezhezkel Lazarov ) works as a consultant to the special department for the investigation of murders at the Ministry of Justice. He is an excellent mentalist , hypnotist, physiognomist, practical psychologist and a virtuoso manipulator who once presented himself as a psychic and clairvoyant, able to read other people's thoughts.

A few years before the beginning of the events described, Daniel's life changes overnight. The reason for the change is the terrible tragedy that occurred in his family when, in revenge for the humiliating characterization that he recklessly gave to a dangerous maniac on the air of a popular television show, nicknamed “Demon,” he brutally killed his wife and little daughter. Danila unexpectedly leaves a successful career on television, giving up fame and money, and directs his abilities to help justice . The main goal of his cooperation with the authorities is the desire for revenge, the desire to catch and destroy his personal enemy - the serial killer of the "Demon".

In his new work in the investigative authorities, Romanov is not afraid to go beyond the framework of traditional investigation practices, he often behaves defiantly with suspects, and resortes to manipulation and hypnosis. His main weapon is an excellent knowledge of human weaknesses.

The direct head of Danila, the executive and uncompromising Ekaterina Filatova ( Anastasia Mikulchina ), on the contrary, was used to sticking to the “letter of the law” in everything. However, over time, she realizes that non-standard methods of investigating the mentalist bring the necessary results. Therefore, often, she has to deviate from the rules and stand up for her unpredictable subordinate before the authorities, putting her own career at risk.

Despite the diametrically opposite views on the work, mutual sympathy arises between the main characters, but the past does not let Daniel go ...

• Filming of the television series began in September 2016 and lasted five and a half months, until January 2017, in Moscow and its suburbs , as well as in Odessa , at sea and railway stations, in the building of the National Pedagogical University, in a yacht club and other locations ^{[ 7] [8] [10] [11]} .
