Biography

He is mentioned in the Book of Llanduff as Atruis the son of Fernoil. Harlean genealogies call him Itel's father. He was a contemporary of Bishop Caduared. [5]

In his young years, in 765, the Welshmen invaded Mercia and inflicted many destructions, and in 769, the Mercians raided Wales [6] [7] . According to the Annals of Cumbria, his father died in 775, then he began to rule Gwent.

In 776, the troops of Gwent and Glamorgan gathered and invaded Mercia again, they leveled part of the rampart with the ground and returned with rich booty. [8]

In 778 (in 777, according to the Chronicle of the Princes [9] ), the Mercians under the leadership of Offa ravaged the land of the southern Britons, and in the summer of 784 they repeated the invasion [10] . This invasion was devastating. Offa restored the walls of his rampart, closer to himself, leaving the province between the Wye and Severn rivers, where the Elistan Glodrite tribe will be located, where they will become one of the five royal tribes of Wales. [8]

In 795, black pagans first came to Britain from Denmark , and committed great destruction in England ; they subsequently invaded Glamorgan, burning and killing many. In the end, the Britons defeated them, driving them back into the sea, killing many of them. They went to fight in Ireland . [8]

His youngest son, Bledry (Bladedig), married Tanguistle, the daughter of Owain , ruler of Dywed . [eleven]

Artuir died around 810, he was succeeded by his nephew Idvallon . [one]

In 811, Owain Dyfedsky also died; it is believed that he was succeeded by his common grandson with Artuir, Hivayd ap Bledri . [12] [13]
