Biography

Born on June 21, 1948 in Moscow [1] .

In 1971 he graduated from the Department of Genetics and Breeding of Leningrad State University [1] .

From 1971 to 1990, he worked at the Research Institute of Genetics of the Ministry of Industry and Medications [1] .

In 1975 he defended his thesis [1] .

In 1987 he defended his doctoral dissertation [1] .

In 1989 he was awarded the academic title of professor [1] .

In 1991, he went to work at the Institute of General Genetics named after N.I. Vavilov of the Russian Academy of Sciences , where N.K. Yankovsky was invited by academician S.V. Shestakov , the then director of IOGen, to do research on the Human Genome program [2] .

From 2006 to 2016 - Director of IOGEN RAS [1] [3] .

In 2008 he was elected Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences [1] .

In 2016 he was elected Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences [1] .

Since 2016 - Scientific Director of the IOGen RAS [4] .

He was the head of 21 grants, including 8 foreign ones.

Author of 9 patents and more than 120 scientific papers, 1 monograph, as well as more than 30 popular science articles and one book.

Under his leadership, defended 19 master's and 6 doctoral dissertations.
