Biography
Publius came from a noble plebeian clan [3] ; presumably, his father was the coin triumvir of 100 BC. e. with the same name , mentioned by Pliny as the first of the Romans, who served a whole boar at the feast [2] .
Publius Servilius was one of the popular tribunes of 63 BC. e [1] . In this capacity, he introduced a bill to the Senate on the allocation of land to the poor and the establishment of a special commission with broad powers for this. One of the consuls of the same year, Mark Tullius Cicero , enlisting the support of his colleague Rullus Lucius Cecilius Rufus , opposed this initiative. He delivered a speech in the Senate, and then two more before the people ; as a result, the law was not adopted [4] .
Sources do not report on the future of Publius Servilius.
It is known that the wife of Servilia was the daughter of a certain Valgius , according to Cicero, who profited from the property scribed during the Sullan terror [5] .
