Biography
Born December 24, 1950 in the village. Novotroitsk of the Tulun region of the Irkutsk region [1] .
In 1973, he graduated from the Physics Department of Novosibirsk State University [1] .
He has been working in the Siberian Branch since 1973, having gone from a trainee researcher to the director of the Institute of High Current Electronics of the SB RAS (since 2006) [1] .
He is teaching at the Department of Plasma Physics of Tomsk State University , and since 2005 - at the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), since 2006 - at the head of the Department of High Current Electronics at TPU [1] .
In 2006, he was elected a corresponding member of the RAS.
In 2016, he was elected an academician of the RAS.
Scientific activity
The main direction of scientific activity is the study of effective methods of compression of electric energy and its conversion into powerful flows of charged particles and x-rays in a wide spectral range [1] .
Together with the staff of the Ioffe Institute of Physics and Technology, he performed direct measurements of the plasma characteristics (n e , Te) (by laser scattering) in high-current diodes with explosive electron emission [1] .
Under his leadership, a number of original nanosecond mega-ampere installations (SNOP-3, SGM, MIG) of the terawatt power range, for a number of parameters that have no analogues, was developed, a unique MIG setup was created, in which practically all known methods of generating powerful pulses (electric explosive and plasma choppers) are successfully combined current, the use of a linear pulse transformer, water-forming line technology, etc.), which made it possible to implement a wide range of electrical pulses with a high coefficient [1] .
Member of the Joint Scientific Council on Physical and Technical Sciences of the SB RAS, Intersectoral Competition Commission on the Fund for the Promotion of the Development of Small Businesses in the Scientific and Technical Field [1] .
Under his leadership 3 candidate and 1 doctoral dissertations were defended [2] .
