Alexander Petrovich Smirnov (born July 13, 1944 ) is a Russian diplomat. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy [1] .

He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1967), courses at the Diplomatic Academy of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1983) and the faculty of advanced training at the Diplomatic Academy of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1989).
From March 16, 1993 to August 28, 1998 - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Portugal [2] [3] .
Married, has a son and daughter.
