Biography
Born June 24, 1899 in the village of Dolitsy, St. Petersburg province (Russia) in the family of an employee. Russian. In the Red Army since June 15, 1918. He participated in the Civil War as a cavalryman. In 1919 he was appointed chief and commissioner of the 144th Rzhev detachment of Special Purpose Parts. He was wounded twice and once shell-shocked.
In peacetime he graduated from the Military Medical Academy (1927), in which in the years 1927-1930 he was an adjunct of the department of military field surgery. He was a student of the famous surgeon Vladimir Andreevich Oppel .
In 1930-1932 he was sent to the post of head of the Military Sanitary Directorate of the Mongolian People's Army.
From 1933 to 1937 (with a break) he was a senior lecturer, then - assistant professor of the Department of Military Field Surgery of the Military Medical Academy . In 1935, for a short time was an assistant to the head of the sanitary department of the Kiev military district .
During the war in Spain, he was the chief adviser to the medical department of the Republican Army of Spain (1937-1938).
In 1939-1941 he was the head of the department of military field surgery of the Kuibyshev Military Medical Academy . Contributed to the establishment and development of this medical school
During the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940, he was the head of the Sanitary Department of the army. In 1940, he acted as editor of the book by V. A. Oppel "Essays on Surgery of War"
World War II
He participated in the Great Patriotic War from August 1941. First he was an inspector of the Sanitary Directorate of the Leningrad and Volkhov Fronts, from September 1941 to March 1944 - the head of the Military Sanitary Directorate of the Karelian Front , then from April 1944 to May 1945 - the head of the Military Sanitary Directorate of the 3rd Ukrainian Front [2] .
Post-war period
From 1946 to 1948 he headed the department of military medical training at the Leningrad Pediatric Medical Institute. Published over 30 scientific papers. He died on October 23, 1948 in Leningrad . He was buried at the Theological Cemetery in St. Petersburg [3]

- Lieutenant General of the Medical Service I. A. Kluss is the only doctor awarded two orders of Bogdan Khmelnitsky (1st and 2nd degrees)
