Biography

Born in Paris in the family of Moroccan immigrants, immigrants from the city of Afurar in the province of Beni-Mellal [1] .

Professional career

At the age of 16, he began work at one of the oldest French Internet providers, , a member of the French Democratic Confederation of Labor ( CFDT ). He studied law at the Sorbonne and political science - at the University of Cambridge [2] .

In 2009, he founded the communications agency Mounir & Simon, in November 2010, he co-founded the cooperative La Ruche, which provides farmers with a platform for selling products in various markets. Until 2012, he worked in an international startup LeBridge, a branch of the Havas BETC Digital group. In 2016 he created the company French Bureau.

Political career

He graduated from the Paris Institute of Political Studies . Since 2012, he participated in programs for introducing digital technologies during the presidency of Francois Hollande (cooperation began with the socialist primaries on the eve of the presidential election ). In February 2016, he was appointed Chairman of the National Council of the Digital Economy ( CNNum ) [3] .

In January 2017, he left CNNum and joined the presidential campaign of Emmanuel Macron [4] .

On May 17, 2017, he was appointed state secretary of the digital economy in the government of Edouard Philip [5] .

On June 11, 2017, he won the parliamentary elections in the 16th constituency of Paris, receiving 38.08% of the votes in the first round and going to the second round (in the same district, the current leader of the Socialist Party, Jean-Christophe Cambadelis ) [6] .

On June 18, 2017, in the second round of voting, he won with the result of 51.18% of the candidate from the left party of Melanshon “The Unconquered France ” Sarah Legrain [7] .

June 21, 2017 retained the previous portfolio in the second government of Philip formed after the elections [8] .

On October 16, 2018, as a result of a series of permutations in the second government, Philip was moved to the post of Secretary of State under the Minister of Economy and Finance, taking over the digital economy [9] .

March 27, 2019 left the government to prepare for the municipal elections in Paris [10] .

On April 28, 2019, , who temporarily replaced Mahjubi in the National Assembly during his time in the government, gave him a deputy mandate [11] .

On July 3, 2019, Makhzhubi refused to continue the struggle for the nomination of the Party Forward, the Republic in the upcoming elections of mayor of Paris in 2020, supporting the candidacy of mathematician Cedric Villani . He remained the last rival of Benjamin Grieve , who is considered the main challenger [12] .
