Skaista ( Latvian. Skaista ) is a settlement in the Kraslava region of Latvia , the administrative center of the Skaist parish . Located at the regional highway P61 ( Kraslava - Dagda ). The city of Kraslava is about 21 km away [1] .

According to data for 2015, 200 people lived in the village [2] . There is a rural municipality administration, elementary school, community center, library, post office, feldsher and midwife center, and the Catholic Church [3] .
6 km to the south-west there is a railway station of the same name on the Daugavpils-Indra line .
History
In Soviet times, the settlement was called Gabi and was the center of the Skaist village council of the Kraslavsky district . The central estate of the Borets collective farm was located in the village [1] .
