Team Championship

In the male part of the competition, the national teams of Spain and Germany scored the same number of points, so the winner was determined by additional indicators. Before the final appearance, the Swedish relay race, the Spaniards had an advantage of four points over the hosts of the competition, but were disqualified for the incorrect transfer of sticks. The fate of the team victory was in the hands of the German team, for which the Olympic champion Niels Schumann fled at the last stage. 2 laps before the finish, he dropped the baton and was no longer able to catch up with the leaders, taking only fifth place, which allowed the Germans to catch up with the Spaniards in the overall standings. In terms of the first additional parameter, the number of victories, equality between them turned out to be (3 in each), but in the number of second places (2 vs. 1), Spain became the winner.
