Description

Printed at Wilde Printing House in 1899. It contains up to 30,000 words (calculated by the compiler) [1] . XXXVIII + 1120 pages. Repeatedly reprinted in the Russian Federation in a reprint way by church and secular publishers.

The source for the dictionary was not only modern biblical, church-liturgical, church-practical ( Korchchaya , Nomokanon and others) and church-edifying (prologues, paterikas , Chetii-Minei , collections of patristic teachings and others) books, but also written monuments of the initial and pre-Petrine Russia ( annals , epics , fairy tales, proverbs, selections , letters , contracts, court certificates, codes and more) [1] , as well as previously published manuscript dictionaries and grammars of the Old and Church Slavonic languages.

The publication is intended for clergy, teachers of Russian and Church Slavonic languages, specialists in the field of philology, history and etymology of the Russian language [2] .

Dyachenko's dictionary remains the most comprehensive dictionary of the Church Slavonic language and, despite criticism of some articles [3] [4] , "is the most popular and popular Church Slavonic dictionary" [5] .
