Biography

Born March 29, 1928 in Kiev.

He graduated in 1952 from the Kiev Institute of Physical Education (now the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine ). Pupil of Vladimir Shablinsky . After the institute, he became the first basketball coach at the Kiev Council of DSO “Spartak”, where his students were the legendary SKIF players (later Budivelnik ) - Vadim Gladun [1] and Leonid Poplavsky . Spartakovtsev trained from 1953 to 1957.

In 1957-1962, Vladimir Zamorsky worked as a physical education teacher in high school and as a head coach of the Children's and Youth Sports School No. 4. In 1962-1966, he worked as a head coach of the Children's and Youth Sports School No. 1. He became an “Excellent student in the USSR’s public education”. [2] In 1966-1990 he was the head coach of the women's national team of Ukraine - a multiple winner of the USSR championship. He was the coach of the Ukrainian team, which in 1971 for the first time in its history became the bronze medalist of the V Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR.

In 2000, after the operation, he completed the coaching work. V. S. Zamorsky devoted 45 years of his life to working with young athletes, working in the Republican, and later in the Kiev sports boarding school. With them, he became the champion of the USSR six times, twice won the All-Union School Olympics, and many times was the winner of republican competitions among juniors.

Among his students: [1] Natalya Klimova [3] - Olympic champion, twice world champion, three times European champion; Galina Melnichenko is European champion, Elena Vergun is European champion.

The annual basketball tournament dedicated to V. S. Zamorsky - “Cup of Friends of the Great Coach” is held in Kiev. [2]
