Biography
Born in 1978 in Vigo. She studied English Philology at the University of Vigo. After completing her education, she left for Edinburgh in 2000, where the University of Edinburgh defended a master’s degree in traumatology and a Ph.D. in Spanish philology. In 2004 she was accepted as an associate professor at the Department of Spanish Philology at the University of Aberdeen. In 2005, as a professor, she entered the position of senior lecturer in Spanish philology at the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Bangor. He is the Director of the Center for Galician Studies in Wales. She founded and led the journal Galicia 21: Journal of Contemporary Galician Studies (Galicia XXI. Journal of Contemporary Galician Studies). She published a number of articles in the journals The Translator (Translator), Bulletin of Hispanic Studies (Bulletin of Spanish Philology), Grial (Grail) and Translation Studies (Translation Studies). In the special issue of the latter in 2016, she participated in writing the article “Translation in Wales: history, theory, approaches” together with academician and Judith Kaufman.
In 2014, Migueles-Carballeira won the (AELG) award for the book “Galicians Sentimental? Gender, politics and culture in the national Galician consciousness ”.
