Belaid Abdessalam ( Arabic. بلعيد عبد السلام ) - Algerian state and political leader. From 1992 to 1993 he served as prime minister of the country.

Biography
Born December 1, 1928 in the Algerian city of Setif . He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of the French city of Grenoble . From 1951 to 1953 he was president of the Association of Muslim Students from North Africa in France. In 1955 he joined the National Liberation Front of Algeria . In 1958, he collaborated with the Ministry of Culture of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Algeria.
From 1961 to 1962, he was Deputy for Economic Affairs, Benjusef Benhedda (Head of the Transitional Government of the Algerian Republic). From 1964 to 1966 he served as CEO of Sonatrach . From 1965 to 1977 he was Minister of Industry and Energy. From 1977 to 1979 - Minister of Light Industry. From 1979 to 1980, he was a member of the Politburo of the Algerian National Liberation Front.
From July 8, 1992 to August 21, 1993 he served as prime minister of Algeria. In April 1999, he attempted to participate in the presidential election as an independent candidate, but was unable to collect the 75,000 signatures necessary for admission to participate in the election campaign. He is the author of the book "Le gaz algérien: stratégies et enjeux".
