The son of Guillaume IV de Macon and his wife, Sholastika Champagne.
He participated in the wars waged by Count of Oson Etienne III (cousin of his father) against the Duke of Meran .
He was married (wedding - not later than 1211) to Alix Gigon de Foret, daughter of Count Gig III de Foret . Daughter:
- Alix de Macon , Countess of Macon and Vienne. In 1239, she sold the county of Macon to the French king Louis Saint .
According to historians of the 18-19th centuries, Gerot II died before his father - in 1220 or 1223.
