Ion Efremovich Halan ( 1923 village of Nemylnya , now Novograd-Volynsky district , Zhytomyr region , Ukraine - April 9, 1945 evacuation hospital No. 1303) - a senior sergeant of the Red Army , a participant in the Great Patriotic War and a full cavalier of the Order of Glory (Decree on awarding the Order of Glory 1- 1st degree was signed after his death). He died from multiple injuries in April 1945.

Biography
Born in 1923 in the village of Nemylnya (now Novograd-Volynsky district , Zhytomyr region , Ukraine ) into a peasant family. In 1937 he graduated from 7 classes of high school, after which he got a job on the collective farm [1] .
At the beginning of the war he remained on the territory captured by the enemy. In August 1942 he joined the partisan detachment named after the 25th anniversary of Soviet Ukraine . He was seriously injured in December 1943 [1] .
In the Red Army since April 1944. He served in the 282th Infantry Regiment of the 175th Infantry Division . During his service in the regiment, he was a gunner's gunner and calculation commander [1] .
On July 18, 1944, in the battle of Kovel , Ion Halan destroyed machine-gun fire over 10 enemy soldiers and 2 firing points. One of the first to break into a trench occupied by the enemy and in hand-to-hand combat destroyed two enemy soldiers [1] . On August 5, 1944 he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree [2] .
He participated in forcing the Bug (in the region of Brest ). In mid-October 1944, near the settlement of Ruzopolje (near Warsaw ), the calculation under the command of Ion Halan repelled three enemy counterattacks. During the battle, Ion Halan himself destroyed 20 German soldiers and 3 machine-gun points with machine-gun fire [1] . November 1, 1944 he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree [2] .
In January 1945 he participated in forcing the Vistula . January 15, 1945, near the village of Krubin ( Poland ), Ion Halan put down machine gun fire 2 enemy firing points. During further battles for the bridgehead at the enemy’s location, he damaged one machine gun and destroyed one bunker and the calculations of two machine guns [1] . May 31, 1945 was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree [2] .
Participated in the East Pomeranian operation . On March 19, 1945, Ion Halan was seriously wounded in the right leg. He died from his wounds on April 9, 1945 in the evacuation hospital No. 1303 [1] .
The body of Ion Halin was buried in the town of Gniezno ( Poland ) near the city cemetery [2] .
