Biography

On May 3, 2008, in a by-election, organized in connection with the entry of Bobby Jindl as governor of Louisiana, Scalis was elected to the US House of Representatives, defeating Democrat Gilda Reed [4] , and on May 7 took office [5] . In November of the same year, he was re-elected at the regular congressional elections for his first full two-year term of office.
In August 2014, he became the parliamentary organizer of the Republicans in the House of Representatives [6] .
On June 14, 2017, during a training session of the US Congress baseball team in Alexandria ( Virginia ), Scalis and five other people were injured as a , opened by 66-year-old James Hodgkinson [7] .
According to the official representatives of the Washington , the bullet hit Skalis in the left thigh, crushed the pelvic bones and injured internal organs. As of June 15, the wounded man underwent two surgeries, his condition is critical, but is improving [8] .

In 2005, Scalis married Jennifer Letulle (Jennifer Letulle), they have two children: Madison and Harrison [9] .
