Bordeaux

Byss began his career in his native Bordeaux : first at the small club Saint-Médard-en-Pity, then at the Bordeaux Academy. At the beginning of the 2006/07 season, Paul signed his first professional contract with Bordeaux, but as a result, he never played for the club.

Sedan

In 2007, Byss went on lease to the Sedan for a period of one season without the right to buy. In the debut match for the new club in Ligue 2, he scored a goal against Angers . Returning to Bordeaux from the rental, Byss took part in trial training at Blackburn Rovers , but in the end he signed a three-year contract with Sedan. At the end of the 2009/10 season, Paul was included in the symbolic team of League 2.

Brest

In August 2010, Byss moved to Brest , which had just climbed to League 1 . On September 18, Paul made his debut in the French Premier League in a away match against Nancy (2-0). On November 30, he scored his first goal for Brest in a home game against Lance (4: 1). In the next two seasons, Byss continued to be the main defender of the team and scored three more goals. In January 2013, he received a cruciate ligament rupture of the left knee and dropped out before the end of the season.

Saint Etienne

In July 2013, Byss moved to Saint-Etienne ^[2] . A month later, in the pre-season match with Grenoble , he received a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of his right knee and as a result did not play a single official match for the new team in a season. Injuries continued to overtake Byss, and he could not celebrate his debut for “Saint-Etienne” only on September 18, 2014 in the Europa League match against Azerbaijani “ Karabakh ”. On December 3, in the match against Montpellier , he made his debut for the Greens in League 1, also scoring the first goal for the club.

Nice

On August 6, 2015, Nice rented Byss ^[3] . In the match of the 28th round of the 2015/16 season against Bastia , he reached the mark of 20 matches for Nice, as a result of which the club bought Paul from Saint-Etienne and signed a contract with him until 2018 ^[4] .

Byss began the 2016/17 season as the captain of Nice. He scored the first goal of the Eagles on September 21, 2016 in the match against Monaco (4-0) ^[5] . In May 2017, Byss announced that he would not renew the contract with Nice and would leave the club at the end of the season as a free agent ^[6] .

Malaga

On June 27, 2017, Byss signed a contract with Málaga until 2020 with the possibility of extension for another year ^[7] .

Bordeaux

On January 10, 2018, Byss returned to Bordeaux , signing a contract for three and a half years ^[8] .

International

Byss took part in the European Championship for youths not older than 19 years , where the French team reached the semifinals, and the player spent three matches and scored one goal.

In 2010, Byss played in three matches at a tournament in Boulogne , where the French national team (under 20) took third place.
