Biography

She began her career as a loner, in 1965 she participated in all-Union competitions in Kiev [1] .

She entered the Leningrad State Institute of Physical Culture named after P.F. Lesgaft . In her second year, she married Ardo Rennik , with whom she was engaged in pair figure skating under the direction of Igor Borisovich Moskvin . The pair played for the national team of Leningrad [2] [3] .

After graduating from the institute in 1967, she moved with her husband to the city of Pervouralsk, Sverdlovsk Region, where she worked as a children's coach and represented the Ural Tubnik team. In 1971, the couple took third place at the Moscow Open, having fulfilled the standard of the USSR master of sports. They became the first skaters in the Sverdlovsk region to be awarded this title. After this success, they moved to Sverdlovsk to continue training under the leadership of Igor Ksenofontov [2] [3] .

The following seasons brought the pair many victories: Julia and Ardo Rennik repeatedly became winners of the republican championship, won prizes in the USSR Cup, won the Spartakiads of the peoples of the RSFSR and the USSR. In 1978, with a complicated program, including the release of a triple rittberger, they won bronze medals at the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR, at which the title of USSR champions was simultaneously played. Thus, the pair became the third strongest in the country [1] [2] [3] .

After this, the sports career of the Rennik couple ended. Julia Rennik entered the GITIS department of figure skating choreographers, then continued to work as a coach in the Sverdlovsk sports complex " Youth ". Among her students are two-time world champion in pair skating among juniors Yuri Kvashnin and bronze medalists of the world championship in pair skating among juniors Irina Sayfutdinova and Alexei Tikhonov , champions of the RSFSR in pair skating Yulia Bystrova and Alexander Tarasov . In 1983, Julia Rennik, along with Ardo Rennik, was awarded the title "Honored Trainer of the RSFSR". In 1985 they had a daughter, Diana [4] , the future four-time Estonian pair skating champion [2] [3] .

After the collapse of the USSR and the reduction in the number of coaches, Ardo Rennik moved from Russia to Finland, and three years later Julia and her daughter moved there. First they lived in Oulu , then in Porvoo . Rennik was trained by the skaters of Finland and Estonia, including preparing their daughter for the competition together with Alexei Saks, who played for the Estonian national team [2] [3] .
