Biography
Dmitry Polyakov was born in 1916 in the city of Veliky Ustyug of the Vologda region . Subsequently, he moved permanently to Leningrad , where he graduated from the PF Lesgaft Institute of Physical Culture . At the same time seriously engaged in cycling, complied with the standard of the master of sports of the USSR .
During the Great Patriotic War in 1941, he participated in hostilities as part of a partisan Lesgafto detachment under the leadership of D. F. Kositsyn. Later in the period 1943-1945 he was the head of physical training of the army. He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree, medals " For the Defense of Leningrad ", " For the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. ".
After the war, he returned to the Lesgaft Institute and continued to work here as a teacher, in particular, he held the position of head of the department of cycling and speed skating. He is the author of many scientific papers and methodological manuals dedicated to the sport of high achievements. Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences .
For many years, Polyakov was engaged in coaching at the Leningrad Council of Burevestnik voluntary sports society. In the period 1959-1973, he worked as a coach in the national team of Leningrad, in 1959-1963 he was in the coaching staff of the USSR national team, in 1963, at the invitation, he headed the national team of Yugoslavia in cycling. During this time, has prepared many titled riders who have achieved great success in the international arena. Among his most famous students are Honored Masters of Sports Stanislav Moskvin and Viktor Romanov , world champions, bronze medalists of the Summer Olympics in Rome in the team pursuit race. World champion Lyubov Kochetova , well-known Soviet trainer and lawyer Nikolay Babantsev and others also trained him .
