The company was founded in 1895 (the Charter was Highest approved on November 17, 1895) [2] by the heirs - daughter and son-in-law of the famous Odessa businessman, public figure and philanthropist of German origin Wilhelm Ivanovich (Johannovich) Santsenbacher, who opened in 1890 at his own summer house on Malofontanskaya road in Odessa, brewing. Santsenbacher’s son-in-law, Friedrich Ennie, was also one of the founders of the Kiev Brewery Partnership .

The factory founded by Sanzenbacher, whose production facilities were erected by the architect Bruno Bauer, had the most modern equipment at that time and had no equal in technical equipment. Beer was produced according to classical technology with a 60-day aging time, bottled in oak barrels with a capacity of 90 and 180 liters, as well as in branded bottles of light and dark glass, and earthenware jugs with porcelain corks. [3]

All brewers of the new Odessa plant were Germans , subjects of the German Empire . The volume of beer produced was 600 buckets per day of two varieties - Munich and Pilsen. In a short time, the products of the Odessa Brewery Partnership enterprise began to spread and gained popularity in all the southern regions of the Russian Empire, as well as in the Caucasus, the Far East, the Balkan Peninsula and even in Egypt. [four]

After nationalization in 1920 , TOPZ was renamed Brewery No. 1. In the post-Soviet era, the former enterprises of the Odessa Brewery Partnership were privatized and received the name Joint-Stock Company Gambrinus . At the beginning of May 2007 , the former Santsenbacher factory burned out under completely unclear circumstances. [five]
