Club career
Konitska was born in Lunen ( Westphalia ). From the age of 14 he worked at a coal mine [2] , while playing for the local club “08 Lünen”. In 1958, a talented striker was noticed by the head coach of Dortmund Borussia Max Merkel , who organized the transfer of Friedhelm to his team. In the new club Konitska became one of the leaders of the attack, having formed an effective team with Jürgen Schütz . In total, during the performance in the regional West Oberliga, the striker scored 84 goals in 107 matches [3] . In 1963, Borussia became the champion of Germany, while Konitska scored 5 goals in 5 championship matches.
August 24, 1963 Konitska became the author of the first goal of Borussia in the Bundesliga , scoring the ball into the goal of Werder Bremen . In the 1964/65 season, he became the owner of the German Cup , after which he moved to the Munich 1860 club. In the first season, Konitska won the Bundesliga for the new team, scoring 26 goals in 33 matches (the second championship result after Lothar Emmerich ). However, at the beginning of the 1966/67 season, the player received a six-month suspension for assaulting a judge, which undermined his career in Germany. Until the end of the season Konitska still managed to play in 7 matches of the championship, after which he moved to the Swiss club Winterthur , who at that time played in the second division.
Thanks to Konitsky's goals, Winterthur managed to break into the top division and reach the Swiss Cup finals following the 1967/68 season. In 1971, Konitska moved to another Swiss club Zurich , where he took the post of playing coach. At the end of the season, he became the owner of the country's cup.
In 1973, Konitska completed his playing career.
Team Career
Despite the high performance, Konitska rarely called in the national team. In total, he spent only 9 matches for the German national team, including one in the selection for the 1966 World Cup .
