Hindmarsh stadium

The Hindmarsh Stadium , also known as the Coopers Stadium, is an Australian multifunctional stadium located in Adelaide , South Australia . It is the home stadium of the A-League Adelaide United club.

The stadium has a capacity of 16,000 seats, 15,000 of which are equipped with seats. The average attendance at United home matches is around 12,000.

History

Built in 1960 at the site of the Hindmarsh Oval Stadium, where Australian football matches were held. Since 1977, matches of the National Football League have been held , first used as the home arena of Adelaide City , and later also the West Adelaide Ellas .

The first match of the NSL finals between Adelaide City and Sydney Olympic was held at the stadium in 1986, unfortunately for the Adelaide fans the team lost the opponent 1-0, but in the second match they won and Adelaide City became champions. [1] Also, the Grand Final match was held in the 1995/96 season against the Melbourne Knights with Mark Viduka . Also, the stadium periodically hosts matches of the Australian team .

Rugby and rugby league competitions are held at the stadium. In 1992, the All Blacks match was played against the South Australia national team.

In 1996, the arena was partially remodeled for use at the 2000 Olympics . The stadium hosted some matches of groups A and B of men's teams . In 2004, the OFC Cup matches were held.

Record attendance, 17,000, was registered at the 2008 AFC Champions League match against Osaka Gamba Club. [2]
