Biography
Born in 1963 in Solikamsk . Pupil of the local hockey team “Metallurg” (the first coach A.I. Gorbunov), created at the Solikamsk Magnesium Plant.
In 1980 he moved to Kirovo-Chepetsk , where he began to play for the local Olympia hockey club. In 1984, he was invited to Izhevsk Izhstal , where he spent 7 seasons, scoring 176 goals in 408 games and giving 117 assists. In the USSR championship in the seasons 1988/1989 , 1989/1990 , 1990/1991 he was the club's most productive player.
In 1991, he left for his ancestral homeland in Germany and later played for German clubs: Ratingen Leuven (1991-1994), Kassel Haskis (1994-1996), Freiburg (1996-2001).
He graduated from a gaming career in 2001. He died tragically on February 20, 2005 (he was found dead in his apartment in Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany). He probably committed suicide.
Memory
In memory of Vitaly Grosman in the city of Izhevsk, the decision of the Ministry of Sports of Udmurtia hosts annual children's ice hockey tournaments.
