Biography
Born in 1949 in London in the family of businessman Neil Francis Callow and secretary Yvonne Mary (née Guys) [7] . Catholic [8] .
Callow attended the London School of Oratorians , and then continued his studies at Queen's University Belfast in Northern Ireland , where he was an active member of the civil movement in Northern Ireland, before abandoning his diploma course to continue his studies at the London Drama Center [9] .
Callow's acting career at the theater began with a letter to Sir Laurence Olivier , artistic director of the National Theater . He received a response inviting him to join the theater's technical staff. Watching the work of the actors, Simon realized that he also wanted to play [10] . He made his debut on the professional stage in 1973.
He is the author of biographies of Oscar Wilde , Charles Lawton and Orson Welles . He also composed several Shakespearean anthologies and recorded several audio books.
Open homosexual. Callow opened his orientation in 1984 through his autobiographical book, Being an Actor, becoming one of the first British celebrities to come out . [11] In June 2016, he formed a relationship with his partner Sebastian Fox [12] [13] .
